Preparing for an international journey requires attention to detail, especially when it comes to your travel documents. Among these, your South Korea passport photo holds critical importance, being as vital as the passport itself.

Equally, if you're applying for a South Korean eTA or visa, you want to ensure your passport photo for the application meets the government standards.

Our guide will help you meet these rules for a smooth process!

Photo specifications for South Korean visas and passports

Embark on your journey with confidence, knowing every detail of your passport and visa photos meets the required standards:

  • Dimensions: The photo must measure 35 mm in width and 45 mm in height.
  • Color: Only color photos are accepted, without filters.
  • Head size and position: Your head must be centered, facing forward, and between 25-35 mm in size.
  • Recency: Photos must be taken within the past 6 months to reflect your current appearance accurately.
  • Background: Opt for a white or very light background.
  • Expression: Maintain a neutral expression with a closed mouth and no smiling.
  • Eyes: Keep eyes open, clearly visible, and not obstructed by hair or eyewear.

Photographing minors requires additional considerations, ensuring even the youngest travelers have suitable documentation:

  • No extras: The photo must only feature the child, without toys, bottles, or other individuals.
  • Pose and expression: The child should face the camera with eyes open and a closed mouth. Whether seated, held, or lying down, the head should comprise at least 70% of the photo frame.
  • Background: Use a white or light-colored background for clarity.
